Information

General Health

All dogs must be free of contagious conditions when admitted. These conditions may include kennel cough, ringworm, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Please ensure your dog is free of ticks on arrival. To maintain a tick-free environment we apply frontline to each dog on arrival if they have not been recently treated by their owners. This treatment is provided free of charge.

New Arrivals

Be assured the loud barking caused by the arrival of you and your dog is only temporary. They soon settle again after a few minutes. We always try to place dogs next to others where there is minimal conflict.

Veterinary Care

We ask owners to nominate a preferred Veterinary practise should we need to seek medical attention for your dog. It is good practice to notify your Vet of your absence and to discuss payment of any Vet costs that could arise.

Vaccinations

Proof of vaccination within previous 12 months is essential on admission. This must include Distemper, Canine Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfuenza and Bordatella (C5).

Young dogs are welcome provided they have received their full course of puppy vaccinations at are at least four months old.

Free Services

Tick and Flea Treatments

All dogs are given a free application of Frontline on arrival at the kennels and at regular intervals depending on their length of stay. This practice has been extremely successful in eradicating these parasites from our kennels and has eliminated the need for any spraying of the building and yards.

Food

A diet of premium Royal Canin dry food is always provided, which most of our dogs eat readily and enjoy, including many of our smallest guests. However, individual preferences will always be catered for, including roast chicken for small fussy eaters if necessary. We always have a variety of chicken rolls, chicken necks and wings and My Dog on hand. Good-O's are routinely handed out as treats during the day as rewards (my pockets are always full of them!).

Special premium prescription diets must be provided by owners.

Medications and Medical Treatments

We are happy to administer any prescribed medications including injections such as insulin. Please ensure the drugs are correctly labelled in an appropriate container with the name of the drug and the dosage clearly visible.

We are also happy to change dressings and remove sutures if necessary, with the approval of your vet.

We often treat minor ailments as they arise at no cost to the owners, thereby preventing larger or more serious problems from developing.

Bathing

Your dog will be freshly shampooed before going home 'smelling like a rose', provided enough notice is given prior to collecting. If arriving home early please advise us, the earlier the better.

Progress Reports

Tell us if you would like regular updates and photos via email or your mobile whilst you are away. Sometimes it helps to know that 'precious pup' stopped howling and trembling as soon as you drove out the gate... it happens... a lot!
